Here is a unique insight into the life of a woman who feels that she has lost the love and attention of her husband to a high profile job, more demanding than any mistress. Released through Xlibris, Jean M. Ponte’s Slipping the Fold is a story of a passion lost and rediscovered in the midst of newfound relationships and life-changing decisions.
The plot begins with Catherine’s rash and unprecedented action of running off on a vacation without her husband, Charles. Frustrated and hurt, Catherine hopes that this completely untypical move on her part will jolt her husband into appreciating her. She assumes that Charles will immediately get in touch and either entreat her to return to Chicago or join her at the family cottage. However, Charles does neither for over a week, and by then it is almost too late.
New relationships arise as Catherine’s vulnerability and need for attention reach their peaks. Circumstances, sheer loneliness, and depression begin to draw her out of the “fold” of her marriage and lead her into a sexual relationship with Luke, head archaeologist working at the local historic fort. Soon after, her former university friend, Morgy,
comes into her life and asks her to become her lesbian partner.
Faced with making an important decision, will Catherine choose to return to Charles and the “fold” or begin a new lifestyle? Read the book to find out.
This book will be featured in the California Library Association (Regional) Book Exhibit in Pasadena, CA, on October 31 to November 1, 2009. For more information, log on to Xlibris.com.
About the Author
The lilting cadences in Jean M. Ponte’s writing come from her love of poetry. This attribute, combined with her creative ideas and natural sounding dialogue, has culminated in several novels, children’s stories, short stories and one semi-autobiographical novel about her year traveling as a young actress with a children’s theatre. Ponte attended Western Michigan University when it was still a college, but received her BFA degree in painting from Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas, where she and her husband reside in winter. The author now tries to find time for both painting and writing.
